Dear Calf Pen Meadow Families,

We’ve had a joyful week at school! Our Barnes & Noble night was a success—thank you to our amazing PTA and our teacher readers for making the night so special. We also received many impressive fire prevention poster submissions from our 4th and 5th graders. Everyone looked cozy in their pajamas today, and our 2nd graders had a wonderful time on their field trip.

Great things are continuing to happen in our classrooms.  Students are able to articulate the new concepts learned in UFLI, our phonics program, and they continue to grow in finding evidence in text to share in both oral and written responses through our Bookworms program in Shared Reading.

Looking ahead, we’re excited for our Holiday Fair next week—please see the details below!

Have a wonderful weekend!  Stay warm!

🚒Emergency Drills

Conducting emergency drills (fire, crisis, lockdown, etc.) is one of the most important ways we enhance our preparedness for students and staff during an emergency. Drills allow us to practice what we need to do when an emergency arises in our school.

Today we conducted a fire drill. This was only a drill conducted in accordance with the School Incident Management Protocols established by the district and in collaboration with our local first responders.  Please discuss the importance of our emergency drills with your children.  If you have any feedback please reach out to asimonelli@milforded.org. We thank you for your cooperation and partnership in making our schools a safer place for learning.

New Progress Report-  On-line access beginning Friday, December 12th. Our updated K-5 progress report (report card) can be accessed in PowerSchool using these directions.

The new progress report indicators reflect end-of-year learning goals. It is completely normal for students to still be “progressing” throughout the year as they continue building skills and confidence.  The caregiver guide can be found here.

Cold Weather Guidelines - With the weather getting colder, just a reminder about the Milford Health Department Guidance to schools regarding outdoor activities. Recess and outdoor activities are permitted provided that the “feels like” temperature is above 16℉. Here is the MHD information about protecting your child during cold weather.
