Meadowside Elementary School

Heart Highlights

October 17, 2025

Good Afternoon Meadowside Families,

Thank you to all of our parents and guardians for joining us at our fall Parent/Teacher Conferences.  It was great to see everyone and be able to celebrate our student’s growth this year.  Please take a moment and click here to let us know how it went and/or to give a shout out to one or more of our staff members.

HEARTfelt thanks to PTA for hosting a super fun Trunk or Treat last week -- check out the photos below -- and for our Fall Book Fair!  We are so thankful to all our parent volunteers for helping to make both events such a success.  Want to learn more about the PTA, don’t hesitate to reach out to our officers through ptameadowside@gmail.com.

Conducting emergency drills  (fire, crisis, lockdown, etc.) is one of the most important ways we enhance our preparedness for students and staff during an emergency. Drills allow us to practice what we need to do when an emergency arises in our school.  We have two upcoming drills this coming week:

  • Weather Permitting, Meadowside Elementary School  will be conducting our Fall  School Bus Evacuation Monday Morning October 20th at Drop Off. This will only be a drill and will be conducted in accordance with the School Incident Management Protocols established by the district, and in collaboration with our student transportation provider.  Please discuss the importance of our emergency drills with your children.  We thank you for your cooperation and partnership in making our schools a safer place for learning.

  • We will also be conducting a fire drill next week.  Our students have already engaged in one fire drill this year and we were so impressed by how our students and staff showed responsibility, calm, and care for one another every step of the way.

Join us in Going Pink on Friday, October 24th when Meadowside’s goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Thanks again for being part of our learning community and have a great weekend!

Additional Reminders:

Lost and Found: Our lost and found is filling up with sweatshirts pretty quickly, please stop by during conferences to see if any belong to your family!

Fourth and Fifth Grade Minute Meetings: We are excited to share that starting again this fall, our school counselor will meet briefly with all 4th and 5th graders for “Minute Meetings.” These short, individual conversations help us learn more about each student and ensure they feel a strong sense of belonging, connection and support in the Milford Public Schools. Counselors will ask a few simple questions about students’ interests and school experiences to help guide how we support them in their academic and personal growth throughout the year.  If you have questions about Minute Meetings, please contact our School Counselor, Brittany Smith, at brittanysmith@milforded.org

Save the date for our annual Costume Parade: Friday, October 31st at 9:00am! Click here for more details for our families.

Picture Day is Monday November 3rd!  You can place your order on Lifetouch.com by clicking continue as a guest and entering your Picture Day ID:EVT7J9X2R.

Attendance and Dismissal Reminders:

If your child is absent, please log in and report their absence through the  PowerSchool Parent Portal.  If you have a change in dismissal, please remember to send in a note, or email your child’s teacher and our secretary Mrs. Donofrio (kdonofrio@milforded.org) and our greeter Mrs. Megan Ansaldo (mansaldo@milforded.org).  It is important to email all three in the case that one or more of our staff is absent that day.  Additionally, please be patient with us as we ask for IDs at the beginning of the year.  It is important that our staff can confirm who you are prior to releasing your child -- this is for the safety and protection of our students.  As we get to know you, we won’t ask for your identification every time - however, if our regular staff is out, we will need to do so again.
