Celebrating Read Across America Week
Thank you to all of our students, staff, and families who helped make Read Across America Week such a joyful celebration of reading at Meadowside! Throughout the week, our school community came together to highlight the excitement and importance of books through a variety of fun theme days and activities.
Students and staff showed their school spirit with our themed days, including Hats Off to Reading, Read my Shirt fun, Dress Like a Book Character, Tie-Dye for Reading Ties Us Together, and Oh, the Places You’ll Go shirt day. It was wonderful to see so much creativity and enthusiasm as everyone joined in the celebration.
In classrooms and throughout the building, students participated in a number of special activities designed to spark a love of reading. Highlights included our schoolwide Drop Everything and Read, Buddy Reading with classmates, Bookmark-Making, reading at home Bingo Boards, and our schoolwide Story Walk, which invited students to enjoy a story while moving through the school together.
Events like these remind us how powerful reading can be when it is shared as a community. One of the most meaningful ways we can help children grow as readers is by letting them see the adults around them reading and valuing books. When students see parents, caregivers, and teachers reading, it sends a powerful message that reading matters.
Thank you for continuing to support reading at home and for helping us nurture curious, confident, and lifelong readers!
