Heart Highlights

April 24, 2026

We are so proud of our fifth grade students for the way they began the Smarter Balanced state assessments this week. They approached the testing process with focus, determination, and a HEARTFelt commitment to doing their very best—showing both maturity and perseverance. Next week, our third and fourth grade students will begin testing as well. All students in grades three, four and five participate in English Language Arts and Mathematics assessments, and our fifth graders will also complete the NGSS Science assessment later this spring. We encourage all students to give their best effort, and families can help by ensuring children get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, arrive at school on time, and feel encouraged and confident. With the support of both home and school, our students are well prepared to shine!

Fourth and Fifth Grade Choir

Our fourth and fifth grade students are busy preparing for their upcoming concert under the direction of Miss Walsh, and they sound incredible! We are so excited for them to share their hard work and talents during a special schoolwide performance for our students, as well as at their evening concert for families. It promises to be a wonderful celebration of their dedication and musical growth, and we can’t wait to enjoy the performance together.

Meadowside Career Day

Hello Meadowside Families,

We are in the beginning stages of planning our annual career day and would love you to join us! This year our event will take place the morning of May 28th. Similarly to years past, we will have presentations planned for each grade level. This year we are using a scheduling program to help streamline planning and allow for families to be able to choose their time slot with the hopes that it will allow more participation.

Presentations can be anything from reading a story about your career, creating a short slideshow or video, bringing in tools or materials, showing off uniforms or other equipment that helps you do your job etc. You can get creative! Presentations are 15 each and we ask that presenters come 10-15mins early to ensure there is enough time to settle in.

Students will be encouraged to come to school dressed like their dream career and will have the opportunity to participate in different career themed activities throughout the day. This is always such a fun day for staff and students. We are so excited to welcome you all into our school and to learn more about your careers!

This is the link to sign up. Please note that the available time slots are sorted by grade level and time. If you have students in multiple grade levels please feel free to sign up for both. If there are any questions please reach out to Miss Smith (brittanysmith@milforded.org.) She will be reaching out to our participants with additional information as the event approaches.

Thank you for making this event so special for our students. We appreciate our community and look forward to seeing you all!

Community Food Drive

In support of our community partners, Dr. Cutaia agreed to participate in a food drive the last two weeks of April (April 20-30). First United Church of Christ and Food 2 Kids are partnering together and asking the City to collect food to help stock pantries and food banks.

There will be a culminating community event on May 1 on the Milford Green. I've attached the flyer for your reference and to share with your school communities.

CCC News

We invite families to take a moment to read this week’s CCC News for helpful updates on local resources, upcoming events, and family activities happening in our community. From food assistance and weekend events to summer camp opportunities, there are many ways to get involved. We also encourage you to visit the Milford Public Schools Community Connection Center webpage, where you’ll find additional community providers and ongoing opportunities for families.

Food to Kids

Food To Kids is an organization whose mission is to provide free meals to families of children who attend local schools.  If you are interested in learning more about this program or have any additional needs that we might be able to help with, please reach out to our Social Worker Jenna Stanczyk at jstanczyk@milforded.org or our School Counselor Brittany Smith at brittanysmith@milforded.org.

Kindergarten Registration

For our incoming Kindergarten families who are fully registered or currently in a MPS preschool program, be on the lookout
for an email on our Kickoff to Kindergarten school visits in May. If your child is eligible for Kindergarten but you have not
