Leadership & Growth Opportunities!
~ BE AN AMBASSADOR ~
(don't delay - quick turnaround time)
Because the Milford Public Schools are committed to providing an inclusive environment that celebrates diverse identities, we are partnering with a growing number of colleges and universities to create mutually beneficial relationships with aspiring educators who share our vision for equitable education. The first colleges that have partnered with us are Smith College and Sacred Heart University.
We would like to invite teachers to be an “Ambassador” by participating in one or more of these exciting leadership opportunities with students in one of these teacher preparation programs. Being an Ambassador is a great way to develop your leadership, be a reflective practitioner and help shape future teachers (and get some fun swag)! There are three different ways to get involved:
~ Pre-Practicum Chats: (seeking 4 teachers, 2 elementary and 2 secondary)
Smith students and four Milford teachers will participate in three zoom meetings, each structured around a different topic relevant to teacher candidates such as creating a classroom community, professionalism and building relationships with families.
~ Secondary Methods Partnerships: (seeking 9 middle or high school teachers: 3 English, 1 math, 1 science & 4 social studies)
Smith students will be paired with MPS educators for 1-1 partnerships. The Smith students will visit once in September and once in December. In between, Smith students will meet virtually with their partner teachers four times, to ask questions and reflect on what they've been learning and observing through their program.
~ Junior Clinical Experiences: (seeking many teachers: elementary, music, and secondary social studies, English and math)
In this year-long experience, Sacred Heart students will spend 4-6 hours per week in one of our classrooms, observing, asking questions, helping and being actively involved in the learning environment.
