The purpose of this newsletter is to foster connectedness and belonging throughout our organization. Our motto is "Putting People First" and YOU are our people.

The Talent team is committed to supporting the MPS staff. To that end, we've begun adding content to our section of the district website that we believe will be helpful to you. Please take a look at what's there and let us know what else would be helpful for you to have easy access to. We are continuing to develop content for the website and will be adding pages as they're completed. The sections that are available now are shown in the image below.

The personal and professional well-being of our employees is a priority to the Milford Public Schools!
We offer assistance to employees through The Lexington Group, an independent provider. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides CONFIDENTIAL services to assist employees in a variety of ways including providing face-to-face or optional video counseling services to assist employees in identifying and resolving personal problems such as marriage and family issues, job stress, alcohol and drug abuse, depression and other emotional concerns. The Lexington Group services also include referral resources for legal, financial, eldercare, and childcare through the Life Care program. These services are also available for your spouse, dependents, and household members.

It's Time to Recognize Excellence
It is that special time of year when we have the opportunity to celebrate teachers who inspire a love for learning in their students and who have distinguished themselves in their profession, talented paraeducators who are exceptional staff members and have distinguished themselves in their profession, and parents who have made significant, consistent contributions to our schools.
Watch for an email with more details about the specific criteria and the process, or click for that information. We will honor our Building Teachers, Paraeducators and Parents of the Year at a recognition ceremony on May 28, 2024.
Please consider nominating someone for this recognition. Nominations are due by April 12, 2024.

Austin Cesare, a Social Studies teacher at Foran, who has been with the Milford Schools for 25 years has been selected to receive UCONN's Instructor Award for Excellence in Course Instruction this year for teaching in the Early College Experience program!
With a community of over 1,800 UConn ECE Instructors, there is a very competitive nomination pool every year, and the review committee is challenged to identify the top candidates. This respected professional achievement is for steadfast dedication to one's students, one's school, and the UConn Early College Experience Program.
Congratulations on this commendable achievement, Austin!
Celebrating Our Staff!
Bonnie Feuer, a paraeducator at Pumpkin Delight who has been with the Milford Schools for 33 years, recently published a novel for adults, "A Gathering of One." It is a story about resilience in the face of personal tragedy and the support and healing provided through nurturing relationships. The book has a "5/5 Star" review rating on Amazon! Bonnie has also published four books for children.

Celebrating Our Staff!
Anthony Vitelli, Foran's Athletic Director, who has been with the Milford Schools for 37 years, recently received the "Meritorious Service Award" from the Connecticut Association of Athletic Directors.
This award is presented annually to an individual who has served as an athletic administrator for a number of years and has demonstrated the highest ideals of sportsmanship, integrity, and leadership in the performance of their duties. This award also considers the nominees record of service and contributions to high school athletics.

What to Do If You Need a New Badge
To obtain a new badge, email TMD@milforded.org and specify the reason for your request.
We will prepare a new badge for you that needs to be picked up and signed for, in person at the TMD office at Parsons. We'll coordinate a time for you to pick up your new badge; you must bring us the old badge when you come in.
* If the badge is lost, stolen, or damaged, there is a $20 fee (cash or check) - there is no fee for badges that stop working due to normal wear and tear.
